1.1 This National Qualifying Policy, as approved by the EBASS, will be submitted and approved by MSSA.
1.2 Amendments to the National Qualifying Policy may only be implemented following approval by MSSA.
1.3 Once any approved amendments have been made to the policy, the updated version shall be submitted to the MSSA.
The objective of the team qualifying policy is to:
2.1 Select National Protea teams from EBASS to represent MSSA and South Africa.
2.2 To ensure a fair and reasonable policy for the qualifying of anglers.
2.3 To set a policy that is fair, reasonable and provides equal opportunities to all who qualify to take part in the SA Nationals Championships.
3.1 There will be 8 qualifying tournaments held within each Club per season.
3.2 The team ranking for each Club, will be determined by the best 6 scores from the 8 qualifying events.
3.3 The top 4 Teams from each Club will automatically qualify for the Nationals, provided they comply with the participation requirements as listed in section 4.2 below.
3.4 The balance of the number of teams to qualify for the Nationals from each Club will be calculated proportionally from the number of teams, from each Club.
4.1 The EBASS Committee will determine the maximum number of teams to participate in the SA Nationals Championships, on an annual basis.
4.2 To qualify for participation in the SA Nationals Championships an angler must meet the following requirements:
4.2.1 Be a registered and paid-up member of both EBASS and MSSA
4.2.2 The best 6 of the 8 qualifying tournaments will be used to calculate the respective Club standings.
4.2.3 Have submitted and signed the following required documents:
i Indemnity form.
ii Completed a SA Nationals Championships entry form.
iii Code of Conduct.
Iv Valid South African passport
4.2.4 The SA Nationals Championships entry fee is paid in full.
5.1 Teams that qualify for Protea Colours to compete in an international angling event will be selected based on their national ranking achieved at the SA Nationals Championships of the previous year.
5.2 Protea Colours will be awarded when the qualifying teams compete at any international event recognized by and deemed to be appropriate by MSSA.
5.3 A reserve team is selected on the same basis as the team selection above. If a selected team is unable to compete for whatever reason, the reserve team will replace the withdrawing team.
6.1 National Colours will only be awarded provided the following requirements are adhered to:
6.1.1 Participation in MSSA approved international competitions.
6.1.2 A SA Nationals Championships was conducted by PHYGITAL BASS FISHING for MSSA.
6.1.3 The teams were selected according to the qualifying criteria and procedures of PHYGITAL BASS FISHING, as approved by MSSA.
6.2 Equal opportunities were afforded to all anglers participating in the SA Nationals Championships.
6.3 EBASS is obliged to ensure the prestige of National Colours is maintained and protected against misuse and misappropriation.
6.4 National Colours may only be awarded to South African passport holders.
Application for approval for participation in an international angling event and approval of National Colours must be completed in accordance with the MSSA prescribed regulations.
8.1 All Protea Colours qualifying anglers will receive a PHYGITAL BASS FISHING Certificate of Merit during every SA Nationals Championships prize-giving function.
8.2 All National Protea Colours team’s apparel must be handed over to anglers at least 2 weeks before competing in any international event.
8.3 Copies of the MSSA Codes of Conduct must be provided to all recipients of Protea Colours to ensure that each sportsman and sportswoman conducts themselves in a manner befitting their new status and adheres to the expected standards of behavior.
9.1 Any amendments to this policy may only be carried out using the following procedure:
9.1.1 Any motion(s), if approved by the EBASS Committee, shall then be presented to the MSSA.
9.1.2 The MSSA must approve the amendment(s).
9.1.3 The MSSA secretary will then make the amendment(s) accordingly.
